Ensure your writing reads well... And is well read.

About

Experience. Diligence. Passion.

About me…

When I was a child, I was a voracious reader. And as I got older, I started to write. When people asked me what I wanted to do for a career, I’d say I wanted to read and write books for a living. Well, either that or star on Saturday Night Live.

The producers of SNL never called, and my career took a different path. I obtained a BA from Loyola University New Orleans, then earned a JD from Tulane Law School. I practiced law for a number of years, and spent much of that time writing briefs and memoranda—my favorite part of the job. While law ultimately turned out to be the wrong career choice for me, the education and experience I gained were invaluable.

I left the practice of law and followed my heart to my dream job: editing. I added to my schooling by completing the Professional Sequence in Editing program at UC Berkeley. I’ve since taken numerous continuing education courses in editing, proofreading, and writing, and I attend annual conferences to stay up to date on the latest trends in the industry.

I specialize in editing fiction and nonfiction books, and I also edit marketing materials, web copy, legal materials, SEO content, and more. I’ve edited more than 100 books and thousands of other pieces. My clients are independent authors, publishing houses, large corporations, small businesses, and others. Although I focus on editing and proofreading, I take on the occasional writing project, and I’ve written for blogs, websites, and newsletters.

I serve on the board of the Northwest Editors Guild, and I’m a member of the American Copy Editors Society, the Bay Area Editors’ Forum, and the Editorial Freelancers Association.
